Lean
The primary objective of Lean is waste elimination.
Lean thinking always starts with the voice of the customer. What does the customer value? Or, what problem does the customer need to solve?
The seven Lean principles are:
● Eliminate waste.
● Build quality in.
● Create knowledge.
● Defer commitment.
● Deliver fast.
● Respect people.
● Optimize the whole.
Lean Thinking helps organizations create and design efficient business flows that create products and services that customers need. More importantly, Lean Thinking transforms the mindset through which a business operates – one that is focused on continuous improvement and respect for people in order to create value.
The Lean approach to business processes is based on three fundamental principles: delivering value as defined by the customer, eliminating waste, and continuous improvement.
Following are the Lean process steps:
1. Identify what creates customer value (from the customer’s perspective)
2. Identify the different steps within the process workflow.
3. Streamline the processes.
4. Produce only what is consumed by the customer.
5. Strive for continuous improvement and removal of waste.
